ENGINEERING EXECUTIVE SEARCH DALLAS

Dallas-Fort Worth engineering and civil engineering executive search

Alexander Executive Search runs engineering executive search in Dallas and across Dallas-Fort Worth. We serve North Texas clients from our headquarters at 1221 Brickell Ave, Suite 900, Miami, FL 33131, and we recruit senior engineering and civil engineering leaders for roles paying $150K and above.

Our clients include consultancies, contractors, developers and owner-side teams. We also work with firms of every size, from national and international firms to growing regional practices. This work is part of our wider civil engineering executive search practice and our Texas executive search team.

What is driving engineering executive search in Dallas

Dallas-Fort Worth is both a fast-growing infrastructure market and a corporate base for some of the largest engineering firms in the world. As a result, regional firms often compete with global employers for the same leaders.

For example, AECOM moved its global headquarters to Dallas in 2021 (AECOM), and Jacobs lists its global headquarters in Dallas (Jacobs). As a result, senior people in the region hear from recruiters often.

Meanwhile, public investment keeps demand high. DFW Airport, DART and TxDOT all have major programs underway or in development. Leaders who understand airport, transit and highway clients, and who can lead design-build and progressive delivery, are in particularly short supply.

LOCAL PROGRAMS

Programs shaping the Dallas-Fort Worth engineering market

Together, these public programs create steady demand for senior engineering leaders. In each case, the figures come from the agencies named, not from AES.

DFW Airport, DFW Forward

DFW Airport describes more than $12 billion of investment planned or underway. This includes a new Terminal F of about $4 billion with 31 gates, and its first phase is scheduled to open in 2027 (DFW Airport).

DART Silver Line

Dallas Area Rapid Transit opened the 26-mile Silver Line regional rail service on October 25, 2025. It connects Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Grapevine and DFW International Airport (DART).

I-345 Connects

TxDOT is proposing to rebuild I-345 between I-30 and Woodall Rodgers Freeway by depressing its six mainlanes, with a new I-30 interchange and a DART connection. A draft environmental assessment went to public hearing in April 2025 (TxDOT).

Global engineering headquarters

AECOM and Jacobs both list Dallas as their global headquarters (AECOM), (Jacobs). Their presence deepens the local talent pool, but it also raises the bar for regional firms that want to hire senior people.

RoleDNA™ Mapping: 8 levels of assessment

Every shortlisted candidate is assessed across the same 8 levels, so you can compare Dallas engineering leaders fairly before the first interview:

  1. Job Location Mapping
  2. Executive Summary
  3. Professional Photo
  4. Candidate Introduction
  5. Key Competency Responses
  6. Behavioral Assessment
  7. Verified References
  8. Detailed Resume

For example, the Candidate Introduction is a short video, so you can see how each leader communicates. In addition, the Behavioral Assessment uses the McQuaig Word Survey, matched to the role profile from the McQuaig Job Survey.

Results are then scored against the success profile for your role and shared in a 24/7 online client dashboard. Learn more about RoleDNA™ Mapping.

Texas PE license checks

Many senior roles in Dallas need a Texas Professional Engineer license, which is issued by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. We confirm each candidate’s license and its status before shortlisting. We also flag early when a leader licensed in another state will need Texas licensure (see NCEES).

A free replacement guarantee and proven retention

Every placement also comes with a 12-month free replacement guarantee as standard, extended to 2 years for senior roles. If the person leaves within the guarantee period, we find a replacement free of charge, subject to the agreed terms of engagement. How our guarantee works.

In one engagement, a growing U.S. engineering firm needed 10 appointments over two years. Before working with us, about 70% of its new hires stayed for 12 months. In contrast, all 10 leaders we appointed were still with the business after their first 12 months. Read the case study.

Firms of every size

We work with engineering firms of every size, from national and international firms to growing regional businesses. In a smaller firm, however, one senior hire can change the direction of the business. That is why we also run a dedicated executive search process for engineering firms under $120M, with the same research, assessment and guarantee.
